Overview
REWINDER is a 2D platformer made in Unity 6 by four students in France. The whole game rests on one mechanic: press R and the last three seconds of your own movement play back. We built the website for it, a side-scrolling page that previews the game's first level. It plays itself as you scroll, and you can hit R to see the rewind before you ever hit download.
The problem
The team had a game and no website. A standard landing page with a screenshot and a button would have said nothing about how the game actually feels, and for a name nobody has heard of yet, feel is the whole pitch. The page also had to work on a phone, with a keyboard, a trackpad or a thumb, and it had to be findable on Google from day one.
Our approach
We rebuilt the first level in HTML and CSS using the sprites from the actual build, as a preview rather than a playable game. Scrolling moves the camera and the character along the motherboard, a capacitor seals the way, the character falls into the pit, and pressing R rewinds it the way the game would. GSAP drives the camera and the ghost trail on a React front end, one script per page, with the stylesheet inlined at build time so each page paints in a single request. Structured data, a sitemap and an llms.txt went in with the first release rather than later.
The outcome
The site went live in September 2026 and Google had it indexed within days. It ships as three static pages, the level preview, an About page and a Support help centre with a contact form, each with its stylesheet inlined and one script, so nothing stands between the visitor and the first frame. The download card is already wired for the Steam release, and the rewind on the page is the same three seconds the game gives you.
